Bluff, Utah Visitors Guide
Located by Sandstone cliffs and the San Juan River, the small town of Bluff (population: Less than 400) is a beautiful spot to visit as you travel highway 163 between the Mesa Verde and the Grand Canyon Parks. It is a favorite location to visit for those looking for adventures like biking, hiking, horseback riding, off road- ATV, rock climbing, whitewater rafting . There are also several opportunities for exploration. Two of which are:
- Tours of the Big Country - These treks and trips include naturalist guided walking and hiking trips, four-wheel drive tours, and even llama rentals. You can select from
full day, half day and overnight adventures to the Navajo Reservation, Monument Valley and other area attractions.
- Wild Rivers Expeditions offers an assortment of trips for people of every age and experience level. You can go on archeological digs, talk to archeologist, learn about rock formations and many other educational pursuits. Tours are conducted by licensed guides, many of which are of Navajo descent.
- The BLM Sand Camping Area- This is a favorite spot for viewing unique rock formations, hiking, fishing and boating.
- The Bluff Balloon Festival - Held in January- this is one of the highlights of the year for hot air balloon enthusiast. You can watch (or participate in) balloon races, enjoy the artwork of local artisans, participate or judge the foods prepared in the Southwestern Foods Cook-off or simply enjoy the beauty of the area.
- Each September come learn about the culture of the Navajo people at the Utah Navajo Fair. There are traditional foods, crafts, dance, songs and a rodeo.
